Women Win Two and Improve to 3-0 in NCAC

The DePauw women's tennis team took two victories on Saturday with a 7-2 win over Denison and a 9-0 win atWittenberg.

The 26th-ranked Tigers defeated the 34th-ranked Big Red behind a flurry of come from behind victories. Maddie Lee, Ali Bush and Alyssa Seneviratne all lost their first sets but fought back to win in the second and third sets.

Lee won 4-6, 6-1, 6-1; Bush won 5-7, 6-3, 10-7; and Seneviratne won 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Colleen Morris and Megan Galle had easier paths with Morris winning in the No. 5 slot 6-2, 7-5 and Galle winning at the No. 6 position 6-3, 6-2.

In doubles, Seneviratne and Meredith Breda won at No. 2 8-2, and Galle and Sarah Wilder won at the No. 3 spot 8-6.

Against Wittenberg, DePauw won in straight sets throughout the lineup. In total they lost just four games and individually no one lost more than one game in their match.

Lee, Gretchen Wilder and Galle all won 6-0, 6-0 in their singles matches, while the No. 1 team of Lee and Wilder and the No. 2 team of Seneviratne and Breda each won 8-0.

DePauw improves to 12-5 overall and 3-0 in the NCAC West Division. They will travel to IUPUI on Friday.
