Delaware, Ohio – The 31st ranked DePauw women's tennis team defeated Ohio Wesleyan 9-0 on Friday in their first North Coast Athletic Conference West Division match of the year.
The No. 2 doubles team of Meredith Breda and Alyssa Seneviratne got DePauw off on the right track with an opening 8-0 win. Megan Galle and Sarah Wilder followed at the No. 3 flight 8-1, and Maddie Lee and Gretchen Wilder at No. 1 squeaked by with a 9-8 (9-7) win.
In singles play, Galle and Colleen Morris gave DePauw quick wins with Galle winning at the No. 6 spot 6-0, 6-0 and Morris winning at the No. 5 flight 6-1, 6-0.
The remainder of the matches also finished in straight sets. Lee defeated Lauren Corcoran 6-3, 6-0 at the top flight. Gretchen Wilder won the No. 2 position 6-0, 6-3.
At No. 3 Ali Bush won 6-1, 6-0 and at No. 4 Seneviratne knocked off Meryl Reams 6-4, 6-2.
DePauw improves to 10-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play. They'll have two more division matches on Sunday against Denison and Wittenberg.
