Indianapolis, Ind. - In the final tuneup prior to this weekend's North Coast Athletic Conference Championship, the 11th-ranked Tigers improved to 15-4 with a 5-2 win over Division I IUPUI. The Jaguars dropped to 3-21.
The Tigers won all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead in the match as Meg Crowley and Claire Marshall teamed up for an 8-2 victory over Rachael Bridegroom and Rachel Swartwood at second doubled before the first doubles tandem of Caroline Emhardt and Maggie MacPhail topped Julie Brockman and Abbey Neff by an 8-5 count. Julie Wittwer and Kaitlin Pickrel wrapped up the doubles sweep with an 8-4 victory over Vanessa Whyte and Bobbi Modesto.
DePauw won the match with wins in four of the six singles slots. Marshall topped Bridgegroom at number two singles 6-2, 6-2 before the Jaguars tied the match with wins at fourth and third singles, respectively. Emhardt's 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Neff at fifth singles and Wittwer's 6-2, 7-6 (4) victory at the sixth spot clinched the win. MacPhail finished the match with a 6-1, 46-, 6-4 victory at first singles over Whyte.
The Tigers return to the courts on Friday, April 25, against Wittenberg in an NCAC quarterfinal match at Denison.
