13th-Ranked DePauw Finishes Seventh at ITA Championships

Greencastle, Ind. - After dropping a morning match to 12th-ranked Washington University, the 13th-ranked Tigers came back to top 14th-ranked UC Santa Cruz, 7-2, and finish seventh at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Women's Indoor Team Championship. Less than two weeks ago, DePauw claimed a 6-3 victory over Washington University, but this time the Bears turned that score around on the Tigers. DePauw's Caroline Emhardt and Maggie MacPhail picked up the only DePauw doubles win as they topped Aly Coran and Jamie Silverberg, 8-5.

In singles play, Claire Marshall won 6-1, 6-1 over Coran at the number-two slot, while Meg Crowley picked uo a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Theresa Petraskova at number four.

In the evening match, DePauw got off to a 2-1 lead after doubles as Emhardt and Marshall won at number two by an 8-5 score over Courtney Lymburner and Danielle Caro. The third doubles tandem of Julie Wittwer and Kaitlin Pickrel claimed an 8-0 win over Monika Prokes and Kassondra Heacock.

The Tigers wrapped up the match as Marshall, Taylor Mahr, Crowley, Emhardt and Carolyn Huerth each won in straight sets at second through sixth singles, respectively.

DePauw, now 6-2, travels to University of Chicago for a March 8 rematch with the Maroons.
