Five DePauw Student-Athletes Headed to NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships

Greencastle, Ind.- Five student-athletes will represent the DePauw women's swimming and diving team at the 2014 NCAA Division III National Championship held March 19-22 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis.

The five include: Emily Weber (Jr.; Winfield, Ill./Wheaton North), Erin Horne (So.; Arlington Heights,Ill./ John Hersey), Caroline Bridges (So.; Mequon, Wis./University School Milwaukee), Angela Newlon (Fr.; O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) and Kirsten Olson (Fr.; Albuquerque, N.M./Wayzata).

DePauw's 800 freestyle relay (Newlon, Weber, Bridges, Olson) is seeded sixth with a qualifying time of 7:31.22 at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships. The 400 free relay (Bridges, Weber, Olson, Horne) qualified with a time of 3:29.44 at the NCAC Championships and is seeded 13th in the event. The Tigers will also compete in the 200 free relay and 200 medley relay.

Newlon qualified, individually, in the 500 free in a time of 4:50.91 at the NCAC Championships and is seeded first in the event. She is seeded 10th in the 400 individual medley with a qualifying time of 4:27.00 at the Total Performance Invitational. Newlon will also compete in the 200 butterfly.

Three other Tigers will swim in individual events including Weber (500 free, 200 free, 1650 free), Bridges (100 free, 200 free) and Olson (200 backstroke).

Listed below is a schedule of the events in which DePauw is competing. Prelims start at 10 a.m. each day with finals at 6 p.m.
