Greencastle, Ind. - Visiting Ohio Northern scored midway through the second half and improved to 2-0 with a 1-0 win over DePauw at Reavis Stadium. The Tigers dropped to 0-2 with the loss.
The Polar Bears' Shelby Stephens delivered the game winner at exactly the midway point of the first half on an assist from Anna Niemeyer.
Ohio Northern outshot DePauw 18-2 including an 8-0 edge in shots on goal. The Polar Bears also led in corners, 8-3, and held a 6-5 margin in fouls.
DePauw's Emma Cooper stopped seven shots, while Emily Brodict notched the shutout for Ohio Northern.
The Tigers return to the pitch on Thursday, September 4, when they host Marian (Ind.) in a 7 p.m. contest.
In the evening's opening contest, Illinois Wesleyan and Birmingham-Southern were scoreless through the first 67 minutes, but Illinois Wesleyan scored three in a 14-minute span and took a 3-1 victory.
