Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw senior Paige Gooch was named a first team all-America selection by the Women's Golf Coaches Association at the awards banquet held at the site of the NCAA Division III Championships.
Gooch, the 2011 Division III Freshman of the Year, entered the Championships as the top golfer for the eighth-ranked Tigers with a 77.29 stroke average. In 11 tournaments this year, she's won five and finished in the top 10 a total of 10 times. She was the North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year and earned medalist honors at the NCAC Championships earlier this month.
Gooch was a second team all-America choice each of her first three years and joins Sarah Gates as DePauw's only four-time all-America selection.
A three-time WGCA All-Scholar Award recipient and 2013 Capital One Academic All-America selection, Gooch was also named to the all-Great Lakes Region team and was joined by teammates Kelsey Smith and Alexandria Ramirez.
Smith is second on the team with a 79.35 stroke average with six top-10 fiinishes out of the nine events in which she competed. Ramirez averaged 80.0 strokes with eight top-10 finishes among her 11 tournaments.
The Tigers are in eighth place at the NCAA Championships through two rounds.
