Seventh-Ranked DePauw Wins First NCAC Championship Event; Gooch is Medalist

Danville, Ind. - Seventh-ranked DePauw entered the day trailing 21st-ranked Wittenberg by three strokes, but the host Tigers shot a 319 for a two-day 641 and a three-stroke win in the first of two North Coast Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championship events at the Twin Bridges Golf Club.

Wittenberg finished second at 644, while Denison is third at 665 and Allegheny fourth with a 692.

DePauw's Paige Gooch shot a 152 to win by five strokes over Wittenberg's Nicole Waers and Denison's Brynn FitzGerald. DePauw's Sheinnera Gerongay was fourth at 158, while teammate Kelsey Smith was one of four players tied at 161. Smith was the fifth member of the all-tournament team as she won the tiebreaker based on the lowest second-round score.

Ohio Wesleyan's Courtney Tincher had the tournament's only eagle, while Allegheny's Miranda Santucci careded five birdies over the 36 holes.

Rounding out DePauw's finishers were Alexandria Ramirez (170) and Kenzlie Westerfield (173).

This weekend's tournament represented one half of the total NCAC Championships as the teams will gather May 3-4 in Crawfordsville, Ind., at the Crawfordsville Country Club.
