Wittenberg Takes Early NCAC Women's Golf Lead; Gooch Leads Individuals

Danville, Ind. - Paced by Allie Lawill's 77, Wittenberg (ranked 21st by Golstat.com and 22nd in the latest coaches' poll) shot a 319 to take a three stroke lead over #7/#8 DePauw in the first round of the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships Event 1 at the Twin Bridges Golf Club. Denison is in third with a 335 and Allegheny fourth at 337.

Paige Gooch leads the 35-player field after shooting a two-over, 74, and shot par on 16 of the 18 holes. Denison's Brynn FitzGerald shot a 76 and DePauw's Sheinnera Gerongay was fourth at 79. Allegheny's Miranda Santucci led the field with three birdies, while Wooster's Hannah Buzolits totaled two.

Other DePauw scores included Kelsey Smith (84), Alexandria Ramirez (85) and Kenzlie Westerfield (85).

Play for the first championship event wraps up on Sunday and represents half of the total NCAC Championships as the school compete next Saturday and Sunday at the Crawfordsville Country Club in Crawfordsville, Ind.
