DePauw Stays Atop NCAC with Pair of 9-1 Wins Over Hiram

Greencastle, Ind. -- DePauw improved to 8-0 in the NCAC and improved their overall record to 14-14 after picking up a pair of 9-1 (5 inn.) wins over Hiram on Tuesday.

Sidney Holler homered, a 2-run shot in the fourth, and finished 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Tigers. Also collecting two hits were Liz Getz and Gabby Smart. Getz tripled in the first to score Smart to open the scoring for the Tigers.

Brooke Bandy pitched a complete game to improve her record to 5-8. She struck out six and gave up just one earned run.

In game two, DePauw spotted six runs in the first, spraying balls all over the field. Lauren Godden singled in a run to get it started. Holler doubled home a run; Smart hit a sacrifice fly; Kathleen Byers hit an RBI single up the middle, and Megan Montgomery doubled down the left field line to score two.

In the third, Abey Bass stole second and scored on a bad throw. Later in the inning, Jordyn Fera doubled to score Mina Shaw.

Shaw later grounded out in the fifth to score Alyssa Nowak to give DePauw the 8-run lead and to end the game.

Devin Pieper started and collected the win in three innings of work. She is 3-1 on the year. Julia Bork pitched the final two innings and did not allow a hit.

DePauw heads to Wittenberg tomorrow to square off against the NCAC's other undefeated team. The doubleheader begins at 3:30 p.m.
