Bloomington, Ill. - DePauw continued its torrid play as it picked up its 20th win in the last 22 games with a 6-2 win at 12th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan. The Tigers improved to 25-13, while the Titans dropped to 27-8.
The Tigers grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first as Sammi Bell led off with a single and moved to second on Linsey Button's one-out base hit. Lauren Godden advanced each with a grounder before Haleigh Chasteen delivered a two-run single to center.
Illinois Wesleyan countered with one in the bottom of the first as Sam Gudat homered with one out.
Bell walked with one out in the fifth and stole second before Button also walked. Godden's single scored Bell. Sarah Beischer entered as a pinch-runner for Godden and Button stole home. Chasteen followed with a single and Sidney Holler walked before Gabby Smart was hit by a pitch driving home Beischer and giving the Tigers a 5-1 lead.
The Titans added one in the bottom of the fifth when they loaded the bases and Maggie Graham stole home.
Liz Getz's solo homer in the sixth gave DePauw a 6-2 lead.
Getz and Chasteen each had two of DePauw's eight hits. Jillian Runyon had two of Illinois Wesleyan's five hits.
Ashlee Gibson picked up the win with two innings of relief work and improved to 6-1, while Emma Baldwin picked up her third save with 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. Mackenzie Marquis dropped to 13-5.
DePauw wraps up North Coast Athletic Conference play tomorrow when it hosts Kenyon in a 4 p.m. doubleheader.
