Greencastle, Ind.- After collecting their first North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament title, the DePauw softball team had six student-athletes named to the All-NCAC teams.
The Tigers led the conference with five first-team selections including infielders Linsey Button (So., Ballwin, Mo./Lafayette) and Taylor Golden (Jr., Chicago, Ill./Trinity), outfielder Lauren Krumwiede (Sr., Watseka, Ill./Watseka Community), utility player Jennifer Ridge (Jr., Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington) and pitcher Kahla Nolan (Jr., West Chicago, Ill./Wheaton North).
Button, a first-team selection in 2013, hit .400 in conference games with 15 RBI, seven runs scored and had a .750 slugging percentage. Golden collected 20 hits with a .400 batting average in NCAC play, while scoring nine runs with six RBI. Button and Golden each earned NCAC Player of the Week honors and were named to the All-Tournament team.
Krumwiede batted .357 in conference games with eight runs scored, seven RBI and handled all 23 chances in the outfield without an error. Ridge hit .391 in NCAC action with eight RBI, seven steals and 10 runs scored.
Nolan, a second-team selection in 2013, went 12-3 in conference games with a 1.17 earned run average, four shutouts and only allowed 17 earned runs. She led the conference in wins and innings pitched with 101.1, was third with 70 strikeouts and earned NCAC Tournament MVP honors.
Outfielder Gabby Smart (Fr., Chicago, Ill./Trinity) rounded out the Tigers' selections, earning honorable mention accolades. Smart batted .326 in NCAC play with seven RBI and two runs scored.
DePauw travels to Trine University and opens play in the 2014 NCAA Division III Softball Championship against Muskingum University. The four-team regional begins on Friday, May 9, and continues through Sunday, May 11.
