Greencastle, Ind.- Kahla Nolan threw her second two-hitter of the day, leading DePauw to a 4-1 victory over Wittenberg Friday afternoon in second round action of the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament at DePauw University.
DePauw improved to 25-17 overall and will play in the championship game tomorrow starting at 1:00 p.m., while Wittenberg dropped to 22-10 and will play the winner of the Denison vs. Ohio Wesleyan tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.
Wittenberg scored first tallying one run in the first inning. Loren Combs started off the frame with a single to left. Following a lineout, Combs stole second and advanced to third on an error. Rachel Ross delivered a two-out single to right center plating Combs.
DePauw would work a little bit of two-out magic in the bottom of the third inning to tie the contest. Julia Waggoner reached on a bunt single and quickly stole second. Waggoner scored on Sammi Bell's single up the middle.
DePauw added one insurance run in the fifth to round out the scoring on the day. Bell doubled to start the frame and advanced to third on Taylor Golden's sacrifice bunt. Jennifer Ridge doubled to right center plating Bell.
Nolan dominated the contest allowing just three base runners and retiring the final 18 batters in order. She earned her second complete-game victory of the day with four strikeouts and has improved to 21-11 on the year.
Ross took the loss after tossing 4.1 innings giving up four runs on eight hits and striking out two.
