Greencastle, Ind. - For the second consecutive year, DePauw's Marcus Dozier (South Bend, Ind./Riley) has been selected as the NCAA Division III Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year for the Great Lakes Region as voted on by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association member coaches.
Dozier is slated to compete at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in both the discus throw and shot put tomorrow and Friday at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. The discus is scheduled for 11:30 a.m tomorrow, while the shot put is at 3 p.m. on Friday.
He is the top-ranked discus thrower in Division III at 57.13m (187-5), a mark he achieved at the Indiana Division III Championships on April 16. That throw is almost 12 feet further than the runner-up. During the season he also set a personal best in the shot put of 17.07m (56-0) at the All-Great Lakes Elite Meet on May 19 which ranks in a tie for seventh in the nation.
