Lords Dominate Second Half; Defeat Tigers

Greencastle, Ind.- The Kenyon Lords outscored DePauw 8-2 in the second half to seal a 16-6 victory Saturday afternoon at Blackstock Stadium.

Kenyon scored the first two goals on the day when Pat Kim and Alex Lopez tallied a pair of unassisted goals. Sam Caravana's unassisted strike with 8:18 left in the quarter cut the Lords' lead in half. Kenyon would close the first quarter on a 3-0 run highlighted by two goals from Nick Lenard.

Caravana scored DePauw's second goal of the contest on an assist by Ryan Mauro just 23 seconds into the second quarter. Adam Bridges scored on an assist from Richard McGowan with 12:58 left in the half to make the score 5-3.

After a pair of Kenyon goals, Sam Alkema fired in an unassisted goal with 5:59 on the clock to keep the score close. The Lords scored a late goal to take a 8-4 lead into halftime.

The Lords dominated the third quarter scoring six goals and holding the Tigers to just three shots with no goals. Zach Arlia and Lopez led Kenyon with two goals in the third.

Up 15-4 the Lords extended their lead scoring 33 seconds into the fourth on a Caleb Florence goal. Robert Lapp would score back-to-back goals to close out the Tigers' scoring. With 13:44 left in the contest Lapp fired home a pass from McGowan. He scored his second goal on an unassisted strike with 6:21 remaining.

The Lords would add one final tally before the game went final on Lenard's goal with 5:26 on the clock.

Kenyon outshot DePauw 48-29 and held a 32-23 edge on ground balls. Grant Skipper won 14-of-24 faceoffs for the Tigers and Tom Kryspin collected 11 saves in goal.

DePauw will close out their 2014 season Saturday, May 3, when they host Beloit for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
