Springfield, Ohio – The DePauw field hockey team picked up a big early season win on Wednesday defeating Wittenberg 3-2 to open play in the North Coast Athletic Conference.
However, Wittenberg tied it up with two goals of their own to start the second half. The first came in the 37th minute and the tying goal came from Riley Trexler at the 44th minute.
Ten minutes later senior Addie Ball hit the unassisted game winner for DePauw.
DePauw outshot Wittenberg 18-13 and took eight penalty corners to their five. Sarah Guendert made six saves in the win.
The win puts DePauw at 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in the NCAC. Wittenberg is 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the NCAC.
DePauw travels to Centre on Saturday for their next game and will stay to play Christopher Newport on Sunday.
