The DePauw baseball team came back from two losses on Saturday to sweep Wittenberg on Sunday 4-1 and 13-2.
Game one was highlighted by Mike Hammel's performance on the mound as he moved to 4-0 on the season. Hammel pitched a no-hitter through the first five innings and allowed just two hits and one earned run, which all occurred in the sixth inning. He also struck out seven batters in his complete game win.
In game two, the Tigers jumped out early and often with three runs in the first, three in the fourth and seven in the fifth. Their 13 runs on 13 hits was plenty enough to support starting pitching Andrew Quinn who pitched a complete game, allowing just two runs on four hits. It was Quinn's first win of the season as he moves to 1-1.
Reid Pittard, Thompson, Lucas Italiano and Collin Einertson each collected two RBI. Collin Einertson, Zack Wade and Ryan Grippo each had a multi-hit game while Connor Einertson went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
The wins move DePauw to 11-9 overall and 2-2 in the NCAC. Wittenberg drops to 6-10 overall and 2-2 in the NCAC.
DePauw will be back in action next Saturday when they travel to Denison for another NCAC matchup.
