Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw opens NCAA Division III Championship play on Wednesday, May 14, when it faces top-ranked Webster University in the first game of the six-team, double elimination regional hosted by Augustana College and played in Moline, Ill. After winning the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament with two wins over Wooster on Saturday, the 23-19 Tigers earned the conference's automatic qualification into the 56-team national tournament. DePauw is seeded sixth in the regional and is making its sixth appearance in the Division III postseason with previous trips in 1977, 1978, 1979, 2001 and 2012.
Webster, 37-12, won its fifth straight St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title with Saturday's 12-4 win over Greenville (Ill.) College. The Gorlocks won last year's Moline regional and the 2012 in Millington, Tenn., and posted a 1-2 mark in the finals each year.
DePauw leads the all-time series, 3-2, including Webster's 10-2 win in the 2012 NCAA regional.
The seeding for this year's Moline Regional is as follows: 1. Webster; 2. St. Thomas (Minn.); 3. Buena Vista; 4. St. Scholastica; 5. Rose-Hulman; 6. DePauw.
